In line with the History week celebration, all students will be obliged to watch historical documentaries starting next week (from September 13- 17). Wait for further notice with regards to definite schedule, time and guide questions for your movie/ documentary review. Thanks.

Attention: Activity for the Final Term

After watching the presentation, kindly chose which of the following you would like to do:

a. Poster Making
b. Poem
c. Reaction Paper

Send your answers at arjhull@yahoo.com with the following format:

Subject: (Presentation), Surname Name, Course Yr. & Sec.)
Note: Do not attach word document except for when you select (a) Poster Making.

For (a) Poster making: you will have to come up with a poster (something that looks like a movie poster), with the image/s or caricature based from the play you've seen. You may use any art programs (gimp, adobe) or manually draw it and then scan. Be sure to add a punchline or a single sentence that would encapsulate the whole idea of the presentation. You may place the caption/ punchline either at the bottom of the poster or center (pleas see a movie poster and how the caption is placed). In a paragraph or so, kindly give your explanation the chosen image and the title.

For (b) Poem, write a poem either in English or Filipino that discusses a theme or two about the presentation. Maximum number of stanzas is 10, minimum is 5. You may write it in free verse or standard, uniform rhythmic style.

For (c) Reaction Paper. Answer the following questions either in English or Filipino.

- Is the title a good one or a poor one and why?
- List the main characters of the story. Give their symbolic representation.
- What are the strengths and weaknesses of the film.
- If you were in a problem situation like one in the presentation, how would you have acted? Be sure to tell what the situation is.
- Did you like the way the story ended? Why or why not?

2. Select a character which you can relate to or vice versa.
3. If you were in a problem situation like one in the play/ movie, how would you have acted? Be sure to tell what the situation is

2. Tracing the roots
You will make your own family tree, possibly determining as many generations of your family (both of your mother and father side) you can. Include details such as:
- the names of your parents, relatives, all of those who will make up your family tree
- dates of their birth and if deceased, death
-their children, siblings
- meaning of their (or your surname) and trace where your surname originated (citing possibly the place/ province it came from)

Use oslo paper or if computer generated, bond paper short. Provide one or two evidences that support the validity of your lineage.

I would not let this chance pass by thus, my dear students, let me ask you a question or two:

What is your Christmas wish/es and your New Years resolution?

and

Does history (regardless of subject, e.g. Philippine history or Modern Europe etc) have significance / value outside of academics? Does knowing something about history help any?

Announcement!! All Classes, S.Y. 2009- 2010, Second Sem

Philippine History Classes:
We will not be able to meet on Monday next week, December 14 and most likely on Thursday as well because of the university or my college's Christmas party. Nonetheless, please be advised that as soon as the class resumes next year, the next group of reporters must present their topic and be ready as well for a graded recitation (topics from previous discussion). Thanks!

Friday classes:
Most likely there will be no classes on the 18th of December due to university's Christmas party. Nonetheless, BS Stat Rizal class, please inform your 1st and second group to be ready by the time the class resumes and possibly an examination after the discussion.

Submission of Final Requirements, as well as others (e.g. activity equivalent to recitation etc) with the EXCEPTION of ABH 2-1 until tomorrow, October 22, 2 P.M. Late submission will no longer be entertained and will be automatically marked as 5.0.

As for ABH 2-1, I will post questions back to your email addresses tonight until tomorrow. I will keep you posted.

The following questions are for AB HISTORY 2-1: Answer in Filipino. No copy and paste otherwise, it will drastically affect your over all grade! Heed my warning lest you fail the class!

Chose among the following you feel best writing about:

a. Poem (based on the activity you've seen). Limit the number of stanzas to no more than 10. You may write it either in English or Filipino or combination of those medium (e.g. Eng- alog etc.)

b. Activity Review: Answer the following questions.
- Pick one of the main characters. Think of a shape that fits that person's traits. Draw the shape. Then describe the character inside the shape.(optional)

- Name one character. Rewrite the story from this character's point of view.(optional)

-Did you like the way the story ended? Why or why not?
- Relate the story to Jose Rizal. Did the activity stick, that is the theme, with Rizal's original piece?

REMINDER: No attachments! and others

When you send your emails (assignments, activities equivalent to recitation, etc. except power point presentations) to my addresses, just write them directly or post them directly to the compose mail. NO ATTACHMENTS please! I am rather weary and dubious of downloading documents. I hope everyone understands. Thanks!

OTHERS:

All class secretaries of the class will have to provide me copies of class record (print and e-mail) to my mail address. Also, classes that do not belong to SIS system will have to furnish me 4 to 5 copies of grade sheets complete with the following details:
- students' numbers
- students' names
- grades (if possible)
- write the word "pass" on the remark column if the student has grades in all terms (1st grading- midterm, 2nd grading- final term, Final rating).

Please note that the name should be put on the signature of the Department head (found at the bottom part of the grade sheet) is Prof. Angel Duque.
