Humanities: Glengarry GlenRoss
Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin, Allan Arkin, Ed Harris and Kevin Spacey shine in this powerful story set in the world of real estate. Times are tough at Premiere Properties. Shelley "the machine" Levene (Lemmon) and Dave Moss (Harris) are veteran salesmen, but only Ricky Roma (Pacino) is on a hot streak. The new Glengarry sales leads could turn everything around, but the front office is holding them back until these "losers" prove themselves. Then someone decides to take matters into his own hands, stealing the Glengarry leads and leaving everyone wondering who did it.
List the characters and describe them.
What problems does one of the characters have, and how does he or she solve it?
Where did the story take place?
What is the time period in which the play/ movie happens?
If you were in a problem situation like one in the play/ movie, how would you have acted? Be sure to tell what the situation is.
In a good paragraph, state the main idea of the play/ movie.
The climax of any story is the exciting or interesting part. Tell what you think is the climax of the play/ movie and why.
Is the title a good one or a poor one and why?
Would the movie have been any different if there were no foul words uttered a myriad of times by the characters Why?
Did you like the way the story ended? Why or why not?
Do you think the film provides an accurate representation of life during this period of time?
Note:
Please pay attention to character interactions.
Try to follow the dialogue. (do the people talk normally or does it appear they're too much scripted).
Pay attention to the psychology of the characters (e.g. what these characters are thinking and their motivations) and their power struggle.
P.S.
Kindly let me know where out class will be held. Thanks
Ma'am Hull

Humanities
- ASSIGNMENT-
Instructions: Chose only one activity out of three. You may place your answers on either bond paper short or yellow paper. Answers should all be written in English. Deadline of submission will be on July 18, 2009.
A. Find a painting you like (the larger and more original, the better) and then imagine it is like a body of water. Try "diving" into it by giving yourself over to it, focusing on it totally, the whole of the painting all at once, and letting it come into you. Describe what happened, if anything. Next, try this with a painting you don't like as well.
B. Choose a piece of music you like. Try listening to the cutting edge as if it were an ocean wave and you were concentrating on the front edge only, ignoring what has already gone past. Listen to the texture of the different instruments or voices. Then describe what happened, and next, try it with a piece of music you like less.
C. Find a piece of sculpture, a carving, or an architextural or craft form that you like. Touch it. Rub your hands over its shapes and angles. Let the physical sensation of it take over your senses. Close your eyes and let the physical sensations create fantasies of other objects, times, or places. Then describe what happened, and try it with some sculptural form or shape you don't like as much.
